Music Club

In January, 2008 Music Club starts at ACC. The aim of the Music Club is to explore the English language through its music’s lyrics. English music is very popular in Kazakhstan, and so can provide a good common ground for discussing the idioms of English as well as English speaking cultures. It is run by Casey Meyering, the Peace Corps volunteer who works in Belousovka. (East Kazakhstan oblast).

Movie Club

Every Sunday Movie Club takes place in the American Culture Center. The Club is led by Peace Corps volunteers. During club meetings visitors enjoy movies: classics, musicals, detectives, comedies and the most popular cartoons. Having watched a film the participants discuss the plot of the movie and actors' play; thus they practice in American English and improve their language.

Discussion Club

The last Saturday of each month is remarkable for Discussion Club. Discussion club has conducted since opening American Center in Ust-Kamenogorsk.  The club run by Peace Corps volunteers joins people of different ages and interests. A lot of interesting topics are discussed and different games are played in the Discussion Club. It is a great opportunity to improve the language, make new friends and communicate with native speakers.

Model United Nation Club

Every Saturday Model United nations Club is held at the American Culture Center. This Club was formed in February by Peace Corps Volunteers. The Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations. Students assume the roles of ambassadors to the United Nations and debate the current issues on the U.N.'s agenda. Through diplomacy and negotiation, Model U.N. students seek out solutions to complex global concerns such as environment, economic development, AIDS, conflict resolution, disarmament, and human rights.
